About the Author
Kaitlyn Dornbier is a Chicago-based software engineer, dog enthusiast, audiobook devotee, and overall crafter. Originally from Mason City, Iowa, Kaitlyn graduated from the University of Iowa with an MA in Software Engineering and a BA in Graphic Design. While at school, she participated in a number of different communities including the university’s Cheerleading Squad and Kappa Alpha Theta.
Kaitlyn started her sewing journey by making a black birthday dress she couldn’t find online, and has been stumbling along through projects ever since. With no formal (or even informal) training with sewing or pattern-making, she’s taught herself to sew through YouTube tutorials and Pinterest posts. She’s hoping her book will be a fun, light-hearted, helpful guide to other beginners and novices alike.
Her work has been shown nowhere but her own Instagram and in her family group chat. She cannot emphasize enough how f**king little she knows what she’s doing, but she’s having a good time along the way.
